The Obama movement has taken Hawaii by storm. We are likely to increase membership in the Democratic Party of Hawaii by 40-50% in a few short days. Now, however, we must translate this enthusiasm into votes at tomorrow's Hawaii caucus.
Our biggest problem is that few people understand the caucus process or where they should go. Our web site http://hawaii.barackobama.com has a terrific caucus locator, and I urge all of you Hawaii Kossacks and Kossacks with connections to Hawaii to reach out to your friends and family to explain the process.
I'm now off to help organize our final GOTC push, but I have three requests for the Obama Ohana in Hawaii for today:
- Please attend our President's Day Rally at Farrington High School Cafeteria at 3:00 pm. Local celebrity Emme Tomimbang will serve as the emcee, and the event will feature speeches by Barack's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, US Rep. Neil Abercrombie, US Rep. Eni Faleomavaega from American Samoa, and actress Kelly Hu, who appeared in the "Yes We Can" video.
- At 5:00 pm, please come to our headquarters at 707 Richards St. or at Neil Abercrombie's headquarters at Ward Warehouse (2nd floor above Nohea Gallery) to hear Barack call in and speak to our volunteers.
- After that, please stay and make phone call, phone calls, and more phone calls.
We need everybody to roll up their sleeves and work like crazy the next 36 hours. The co-chair of the local Clinton campaign is predicting relatively low turnout and a split of the national delegates. With the thousands of new Dems in Hawaii, we have a chance for record shattering turnout and a great result for Barack in the state of his birth. Let's make this happen and make history in Hawaii!
